1) Heat Pump Technician (ZK)

• The next course starts: 19 September 2026.
• Number of study days: 3 days + 1 day for the practical examination.
• The price of the 3-days course is 1320 €.
• 1 practical examination is included in the price.
• This training programme does not require a theoretical examination.

• Examinations can be scheduled on any weekday from Monday to Friday.

Course content and qualification level: Heat Pump Technician (ZK)

ZK (Zonder Koudemiddelen) means that the specialist works on heat pumps without carrying out work on the refrigerant side of the installation or with refrigerants.

Preparing a safe workplace and installing the heat pump and its components in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Connecting the heat pump to the heating system, electrical supply and control system.

Checking and testing that the installation has been carried out correctly and in compliance with safety requirements.

Reporting on the work performed.

2) 1st Heat Pump Technician (ZK)

Preparing a safe workplace, checking installation conditions and installing heat pumps, the heating system, electrical connections and the control system.

Installing systems and components of the heat pump installation.

Commissioning the heat pump, checking that it operates correctly, carrying out the required measurements and handing the installation over to the customer with an explanation of how it works.

Carrying out quality and safety checks on the work performed, advising the customer and reporting on the work performed.

3) 1st All-Electric Heat Pump Technician (ZK)

• Next course starts: 19 September 2026.
• Number of training days: 3 days + 1 day for the theoretical and practical examinations.

Diagnosing system operation, reading status and fault codes, carrying out measurements and rectifying faults.

Setting up and recommissioning heat pump systems after maintenance or repair.

Checking the quality and safety of the work performed, advising customers and preparing reports.

5) Designer and Adviser (Work Responsible Person – Heat Pump) (ZK)

• Number of training days: 5 days + 1 day for the theoretical and practical examinations.

Assessing the existing heating system and determining the options for using a heat pump system.

Calculating the required capacity and selecting a suitable heat pump system based on the building characteristics and the demand for heating and domestic hot water.

Designing the system, selecting the required components and preparing the technical solution for installation.

Advising customers on possible heat pump systems, their benefits and limitations, and expected energy consumption.

6) Work Responsible Person – Heat Pump (ZK)

• Number of training days: 5 days + 1 day for the theoretical and practical examinations.

Advising customers on the selection and installation of heat pump systems, taking into account the technical conditions and project requirements.

Designing and calculating heat pump systems and preparing the installation work and workplace.

Installing, setting up and commissioning heat pump systems and components.

Carrying out service and maintenance, diagnosing faults and rectifying faults in heat pump systems.

Controlling the quality of the work performed, managing systems and ensuring safety at every stage of the work.

Working with customers, demonstrating commercial awareness, focusing on quality and collaborating effectively.

• No specific previous education or work experience is required to enrol in our heat pump installation course.
• However, to develop successfully in this profession, we strongly recommend having basic knowledge of plumbing and heating systems. This is particularly important when working with hybrid heat pumps installed in combination with a gas boiler.
• If you do not yet have this background, you can gain the required knowledge and practical skills at our school by completing the gas boiler installation course and the plumbing course.

• The training will take place in English language. In addition, we will teach you technical terminology in Dutch language.
• The knowledge and heat pump certificate you gain will enable you to work for Dutch and international companies. Depending on the qualification obtained, you will also be able to carry out the relevant types of work on heat pump systems independently.
• Heat pump training is delivered in accordance with current Dutch standards, requirements and technologies.
• The theoretical knowledge covered in our courses is closely linked to practical training on heat pump equipment and systems.

Examination information for certificates in six heat pump categories

Theoretical and practical examinations

• The theoretical and practical examinations are selected according to the chosen category/qualification and are conducted in English language at our examination centre.
• After successfully passing the theoretical examination, you proceed to the practical examination.
• The content and duration of the examinations depend on the chosen category/qualification.
• The cost of the theoretical and practical examinations is included in the course fee.
• If you do not pass the theoretical examination on the first attempt, you can resit it.
• The fee for a theoretical examination resit is €285 excluding VAT.
• The fee for a practical examination resit is €450 excluding VAT.
